"You know what means 'denis' in Turkish?" asks the Russian guy as he wraps my great-grandmother's chair in moving blankets.
"What?" I ask.
"The sea," he says. "In Turkish your name, it means 'sea.'
"Mer" is French for sea. And my brother, when he was a baby, called me Mer-Mer and that is also the name that my first grandson christened me with. Must be something to this.
