From the Coop

I had a really good laugh today when Spell Check tried to correct chickenshit. It suggested that I'd meant chickens hit.
In the past, Spell Check used to disapprove of waitress as a verb. It's okay now though. Maybe since the economic downturn, it's had to go out and get itself a real job.

I spent all day yesterday at Mayo clinic with my 25 year old daughter. She flees the coop next Thursday for London. She loves stories of our European adventures and my life at her age. I know she is contemplating marriage and relationship and motherhood. And it is such a gift to be able to re-visit that part of my life and re-member some of those experiences that have shaped my current experience of myself. Parenting isn't ever finished, it subtly shifts and relaxes...and I am trying to watch that transformation and consciously participate in it with out being blinded by the emotions (and consequently over-reacting) that come up as I watch the transformation occur.
