City of Baltimore/ Round Two
Oh, I could give you the blow by blow. Who I called. What they said. How long it took. How much of the time I spent on hold. How the last number I tried led back to the first number I called.
But I won't.
What matters is that I have not yet succeeded in paying my mom's insurance premium for January. Or enrolling her in auto pay so the specter of future missed payments no longer haunts me.
There are no more numbers left to call.

Our "healthcare" system was obviously designed by Kafka during one of his nightmares.
Insurance companies, blech! I hate them. You are a saint in my book and I agree with what you said in your previous post, asking how does someone on their own especially an elderly person keep it all together.
What a mess the medical system is there. Sure, it's great care ... if you can afford it and figure out how to access the care available to you.
It really does make you wonder...I see my future in your posts. I spend two days a week with my mom...my three sisters "do" their days. We love our mom...she is still doing good and living by herself but... People without loving help...I just don't see how they make it. The sad thing is they don't ..I once worked for a very rich woman....she had no idea. She once asked what do the poor people do...I told her "They die"..and that is just about the truth of it. And I have no illusions about the "new health care"...it will be ok if you can afford it but going to be so much harder for the poor and elderly in my opinion.
I decided yesterday that if the country can be in debt so can I...
but it's easier to fight mortgage holders than health insurance companies...
My Mom has subsidised housing, social worker, PCA and housekeeper supplied by the county. It isn't fancy but it's working for her for the time being.
